Classic Ham and Swiss Casserole

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish with butter or nonstick spray.

Assemble Bread, Ham, and Cheese
In the casserole dish, layer half of the cubed bread evenly. Top with half the ham and half the shredded Swiss cheese. Repeat layers with remaining bread, ham, and cheese. Sprinkle chopped green onions evenly on top if using.

Mix Custard
In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.

Combine and Soak
Pour the egg mixture evenly over the casserole, pressing down gently to help the bread soak up the custard.

Bake
Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.

Serve
Let the casserole cool for 5–10 minutes before serving.
