Fill a bucket with about 1 gallon of hot water.
Add a drop of dishwashing liquid to the water.
Stir in 1/2 cup of white vinegar. (Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda if your mop smells very bad.)
Place the dirty mop into the solution and let it soak for 15–30 minutes.
Swish the mop head around vigorously in the water to loosen dirt.
Rinse thoroughly under hot water and wring out well.
Let the mop air dry in a well-ventilated area.
