In a large mixing bowl, warm the milk until lukewarm (not hot).

Stir in the yeast, sugar, and vanilla sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

2. Make the Dough
Add the salt, softened butter, and egg to the yeast mixture.

Gradually add the flour, mixing with a spoon or your hands until the dough comes together.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough back in the bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.

3. Prepare the Streusel Topping
In a bowl, combine the flour and sugar.

Add the cold cubed butter. Using your fingertips or a pastry cutter, rub the butter into the flour and sugar until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside in the fridge.
