Prepare the Custard:

In a bowl, whisk the egg, 4 tbsp sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla sugar until smooth.

Heat the milk in a saucepan until just boiling, then slowly whisk it into the egg mixture to temper it.

Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened (about 5-7 minutes).

Remove from heat and stir in the butter. Set aside to cool.

Prepare the Puff Pastry:
5. Preheat the oven according to the puff pastry package instructions (usually around 200°C / 400°F).
6. Cut puff pastry sheets into desired shapes or rectangles.
7. Place pastry pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle 2 tbsp sugar evenly on top for a caramelized finish.
8. Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until golden and puffed. Remove and cool completely.

Assemble:
9. Once puff pastry and custard are cooled, spread a generous layer of custard on each puff pastry piece.
10. Drizzle melted chocolate over the custard for an indulgent finish.
