Perfect Boiled Eggs: A Simple Guide to Getting It Right

Place eggs in a single layer at the bottom of a covered saucepan.

Add enough cold water to cover eggs by about 1 inch (2.5 cm).

Put the saucepan on high heat and bring water to a rolling boil.

Once boiling, turn off the heat and cover the saucepan with the lid.

Let eggs sit in the hot water for:

4 minutes for soft-boiled eggs (runny yolk)

6 minutes for medium-boiled eggs (slightly creamy yolk)

10–12 minutes for hard-boiled eggs (firm yolk)

Immediately transfer eggs to a bowl filled with ice water to stop the cooking process. Let them chill for at least 5 minutes.

Peel and enjoy!
