Homemade Doughnuts

In a large bowl, mix sugar, salt, egg, melted butter, and vanilla essence.

Gradually add the wheat flour and baking powder, alternating with warm water, to form a soft dough.

Knead the dough lightly until smooth and elastic. Cover and let it rest for about 30 minutes.

Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1 cm thickness.

Cut out doughnut shapes using a doughnut cutter or two round cutters (one large, one small for the hole).

Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 180°C (350°F).

Fry the doughnuts in batches until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Drain on paper towels, then sprinkle with sugar while still warm.
