1 cup buttermilk

1 cup breading (your choice, e.g., panko or seasoned breadcrumbs)

1 cup stone-ground grits

4 cups water or chicken broth

1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

2 tablespoons butter

Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Crab Cream Sauce:

1/2 cup crab meat (fresh or canned, drained)

1 tablespoon butter

1 clove garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon lemon juice
