Classic Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

1. Prepare the Cabbage

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Core the cabbage and carefully remove outer leaves.

Blanch leaves in boiling water 2–3 minutes until pliable. Drain and cool.

2. Make the Filling

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, rice, egg, chopped onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika.

3. Fill and Roll

Place 2–3 tablespoons of filling in the center of each cabbage leaf.

Fold sides inward and roll up tightly like a burrito.

4. Prepare the Sauce

Heat olive oil in a pan. Add tomato sauce, a pinch of salt, and sugar (if using). Simmer for 5 minutes.

5. Assemble & Cook

Place rolls seam-side down in a baking dish. Pour sauce over the top.

Cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour. Remove foil and bake 10 minutes more.
