Easy Zipper Fixes You Can Do at Home

Fix a stuck zipper:
Rub a graphite pencil or dry soap along the teeth. Move the slider gently back and forth to help it glide again.

Realign a separated zipper:
Insert the slider evenly back onto the teeth using a dinner fork: place the fork prongs through the slider’s opening and slide the zipper tape down. Tighten the slider with pliers if it feels loose.

Replace a missing bottom stopper:
Sew a few firm stitches at the base of the zipper to create a new stop. You can also use a drop of nail polish or glue to harden the area.

Reinforce or repair a zipper pull:
If the pull tab is broken or missing, thread a keyring, paperclip, or piece of ribbon through the hole as a temporary or even stylish fix.
