Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8x8 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas, melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
Add Dry Ingredients: Sift in cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt. Gently fold everything together until just combined—don’t overmix!
Add Chocolate Chips: Stir in chocolate chips if using, for extra gooeyness.
Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
Cool & Serve: Let cool completely before slicing into squares.
