In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Mix Dough:
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, beaten egg, softened butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
Knead:
Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook.
First Rise:
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
Shape:
Punch down the dough. Shape into a loaf and place in a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan.
Second Rise:
Cover and let rise for 30–45 minutes until the dough rises just above the pan’s edge.
Bake:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 30–35 minutes or until golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
Cool:
Remove from oven, let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
