Prepare the patties: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined. Shape into 4 equal oval patties.
Cook the steaks: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook about 4-5 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Cook the potatoes: In the same skillet, add the remaining oil and diced potatoes. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and tender.
Make the sauce: Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer. If you want a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with a little water and stir it in.
Combine and simmer: Return the Salisbury steaks to the skillet, cover, and let simmer for 5 minutes so flavors meld and steaks stay juicy.
Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy hot.
