Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until soft and translucent.
Add the chopped potatoes and season with salt. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes start to soften.
Stir in the tomato paste or tomato sauce, coating the potatoes and onions evenly. Cook for another 5 minutes.
Add the drained canned tuna to the pan, mixing gently to combine all ingredients. Cook until heated through.
