Chocolate Custard Dessert with Layers of Cookies and Cream

In a bowl, whisk together egg yolks, sugar, corn starch, and cocoa powder until smooth and free of lumps.

Heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat until just about to boil.

Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to temper the eggs.

Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook on medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until the custard thickens and coats the back of a spoon (about 5-7 minutes).

Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Assemble the Dessert:

In serving glasses or a dish, start with a layer of cookies (crushed or whole).

Pour a layer of warm chocolate custard over the cookies.

If using, add a layer of whipped cream for extra creaminess.

Repeat the layers as desired, finishing with custard on top.

Chill:

Refrigerate the dessert for at least 2 hours to let the custard set and flavors meld.

Serve:

Garnish with cookie crumbs, chocolate shavings, or a dollop of whipped cream before serving.
