Heat half the olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent and fragrant, about 4–5 minutes.

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute, careful not to let it burn.

Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan and cook until they release their moisture and start to brown, about 7–8 minutes.

Push the vegetables to one side of the pan and add the remaining olive oil or butter. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through.

Sprinkle the flour over the beef and vegetables, stirring well to combine. This will help thicken the sauce.

Continue cooking for 2–3 minutes to cook out the raw flour taste, stirring constantly.

Optionally, add a splash of water or broth if the mixture seems too thick. Stir well and cook for another 2 minutes until everything is well incorporated and heated through.
