Heat the olive oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
Add the minced garlic and sliced onion, sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Add the broccoli florets and cook for about 4-5 minutes, stirring frequently.
Add the sliced mushrooms, continue cooking for another 5-6 minutes until the mushrooms release moisture and both veggies are tender-crisp.
Pour in the soy sauce and sesame oil, stirring well to coat the vegetables evenly.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Cook for another minute, then remove from heat.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired and serve immediately.
