How to Grow Strawberries at Home for an Endless Supply

Opt for everbearing (fruits all summer) or June-bearing (big harvest once a year) based on your preference.

Pick the Right Spot
Strawberries need 6–8 hours of sunlight daily. A sunny balcony, patio, or raised bed is ideal.

Plant the Seedlings

In pots: Use a deep container (minimum 12 inches) with drainage holes.

In soil: Space plants 12–18 inches apart in rows.

Make sure the crown (where leaves meet roots) is above the soil line.

Water Consistently
Keep the soil moist but not soggy. Water early in the day to prevent disease.

Mulch to Protect
Add straw or pine needles to keep berries clean, retain moisture, and deter weeds.

Feed and Prune
Fertilize every 3–4 weeks. Cut runners if you want bigger berries; let them grow for more plants.

Harvest with Care
Pick when berries are fully red and glossy. Harvest in the morning for best flavor.
