Never cut rhubarb stalks near the base or by trimming leaves; this can damage the crown of the plant.
Instead, gently grasp the stalk near the base and pull it upwards with a slight twisting motion until it snaps free.
Avoid cutting or breaking the stalk with tools near the crown to prevent infections or decay.
Only harvest mature stalks that are thick and vibrant in color. Thin or pale stalks should be left to grow.
After harvesting, remove leaves carefully and discard them, as rhubarb leaves are toxic.
