In a large bowl, mix crushed wafers, chopped pecans, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder.

Stir in bourbon and vanilla extract until a dough forms.

Shape the mixture into 1-inch balls and place on a parchment-lined tray.

Chill the balls in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.

Melt the chocolate chips with shortening in a microwave or double boiler until smooth.

Dip each ball into the melted chocolate, coating completely.

Place coated balls back on parchment and chill until set.

Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
