How to Grow a Continuous Supply of Blueberries at Home

To multiply your plants and ensure long-term production:

1. Softwood Cuttings (Spring/Early Summer)
Cut healthy young stems (10–15 cm)

Dip in rooting hormone

Plant in moist, sterile soil mix

Keep humid and shaded until roots develop

2. Suckers
Blueberry bushes produce shoots (suckers) from the base

Dig these out with roots and replant

3. Layering
Bend a low branch to touch the soil

Cover with soil and place a rock on top

Once it roots, cut it from the mother plant

⏳ With these methods, you can double or triple your bushes every year!

🌿 Step 4: Prune & Feed for Long-Term Health
Prune annually in late winter to remove old, weak branches

Feed with acidic fertilizer (e.g. azalea or rhododendron mix)

Mulch with pine needles or bark to retain moisture and keep pH low

🌼 Step 5: Plan for Year-Round Production
Plant early, mid-season, and late varieties for extended harvests

Use cold frames or greenhouses to extend the growing season

Freeze or dry berries to store surplus
