Perfect Baked Potato Recipe

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

Pierce each potato several times with a fork to allow steam to escape while baking.

Rub potatoes with olive oil to coat evenly.

Sprinkle with kosher salt and rub it over the skin.

Place potatoes directly on the oven rack (or on a baking sheet if preferred).

Bake for 45–60 minutes, or until the skins are crisp and the insides are soft. Test doneness by inserting a knife or skewer—it should slide in easily.

Serve hot, split open and fluff the inside with a fork. Add butter, sour cream, cheese, or your favorite toppings.
