Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Delight

Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).

Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.

Evenly spread the grated cheese over half of the pastry.

Layer the ham slices on top of the cheese.

Sprinkle a little salt if desired.

Fold the other half of the pastry over the filling and press the edges to seal well.

Beat the egg and brush it over the top of the pastry for a golden finish.

Cut a few small slits on the top to allow steam to escape.

Place the pastry on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.

Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
