Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease a standard loaf pan.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar (or honey) until light and fluffy.
Add mashed bananas and mix well.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add dry ingredients to the banana mixture and stir until just combined.
Fold in nuts or chocolate chips if using.
Pour batter into the loaf pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool on a wire rack.
