Perfect Boiled Eggs: A Simple Guide to Getting It Right

Place the eggs in a single layer at the bottom of a saucepan.

Fill the pan with enough cold water to cover the eggs by about an inch.

Put the saucepan on medium-high heat and bring the water to a rolling boil.

Once boiling, cover the pan with a lid and turn off the heat (leave the pan on the hot burner).

Set a timer depending on your desired doneness:

Soft-boiled: 4-6 minutes

Medium-boiled: 7-9 minutes

Hard-boiled: 10-12 minutes

When time is up, transfer the eggs immediately to a bowl of ice water to stop cooking and make peeling easier. Let them chill for at least 5 minutes.
