Decadent Chocolate Cake

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a round cake pan.

Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or gently in the microwave. Stir until smooth and combined. Set aside to cool slightly.

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy.

Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, folding gently to combine.

Sift the flour and baking powder together, then fold into the chocolate batter carefully until smooth and even.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs. Avoid overbaking to keep it moist.

Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
