Turn off the water supply:
Locate the valve behind your toilet and turn it clockwise to stop water flow.
Drain the tank:
Flush the toilet to empty most of the water from the tank. Use a sponge or towel to remove any remaining water at the bottom.
Add vinegar:
Pour about 4 cups of white vinegar into the tank. Let it sit for 1 to 2 hours to break down mineral deposits and kill bacteria.
Add baking soda:
Sprinkle 1 cup of baking soda inside the tank. You will notice fizzing as it reacts with vinegar, helping to loosen grime and stains.
Scrub the tank:
Use a sponge, scrub brush, or old toothbrush to clean all surfaces inside the tank thoroughly. Focus on areas with visible stains or buildup.
Rinse and refill:
Turn the water supply back on and flush the toilet a few times to rinse out the tank completely.
Repeat if necessary:
For stubborn stains or buildup, repeat the process until the tank looks clean and fresh.
