Quick Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Appetizer

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.

Cut the pastry into 6 or 8 even rectangles, depending on the size of your sheet.

On one half of each rectangle, place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese (trim if needed to fit).

Fold the pastry over to cover the filling, pressing the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges.

Beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water and brush the tops of each pastry.

Sprinkle sesame seeds or dried herbs on top if desired.

Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.

Let cool slightly before serving.
