You’re Cleaning Your Couch All Wrong—Here’s the Right Way to Use OxiClean

Start by thoroughly vacuuming the entire couch using an upholstery attachment. This removes loose debris, dust, and pet hair, which helps OxiClean work more effectively.

Mix the solution:
Dissolve 1 scoop of OxiClean in 2 cups of warm water. Stir until completely dissolved. Pour into a spray bottle if you prefer controlled application.

Spot test first:
Always test the mixture on a hidden part of the couch to ensure it doesn’t discolor or damage the fabric. Wait 10–15 minutes and check the results.

Apply to stains and dirty areas:
Lightly spray or dab the solution onto stained or high-traffic sections. Use a white cloth to avoid dye transfer. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes, but do not oversaturate.

Blot, don’t scrub:
Gently blot the treated areas with a clean, damp cloth. If needed, use a soft brush to work the solution in circular motions for tougher stains.

Rinse lightly:
Dampen a clean cloth with plain water and blot the area to remove any OxiClean residue.

Dry completely:
Allow the couch to air dry fully. Open windows or use a fan to speed up drying and avoid mildew.
