Rinse fresh dandelion leaves thoroughly to remove dirt or impurities.
In a small saucepan, bring water to a gentle boil.
Add the dandelion leaves (and root if using), reduce heat, and let it simmer for 5–7 minutes.
Remove from heat and steep for another 5 minutes.
Strain the tea into a cup.
Add honey or lemon juice if desired. Enjoy warm.
