Cut the plastic bottle in half. Keep the bottom part as the base of your trap.
Heat the water and dissolve the brown sugar in it. Allow this sweet syrup to cool to room temperature.
Pour the syrup into the bottom half of the bottle, then add the brewer’s yeast without stirring. The yeast will ferment and produce carbon dioxide, which attracts mosquitoes.
Place the top half of the bottle upside down into the bottom half, creating a funnel shape. Secure the edges with tape to prevent mosquitoes from escaping.
Position the trap near windows, doors, or dark corners inside or in shaded outdoor areas where mosquitoes tend to gather.
Replace the mixture every two weeks or when the bubbling stops to keep the carbon dioxide flow active.
