Hearty Old Fashioned Goulash: A Classic Comfort Dish

Prepare the Meat and Vegetables:
In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until soft and fragrant.

Brown the Meat:
Add the ground beef or turkey to the pan. Cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until browned and no longer pink.

Add Liquids:
Pour in the water and beef broth. Stir well to combine, scraping any browned bits off the bottom of the pan to incorporate flavor.

Simmer:
Reduce heat to low and cover the pan. Let the goulash simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.

Season and Serve:
Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot over cooked pasta, rice, or with crusty bread.
