In a large bowl, combine all the meatball ingredients. Mix well until sticky.
Form into 12 equal meatballs using wet hands or a spoon.
In a non-stick skillet over medium heat, sear the meatballs on all sides until golden brown (about 6–7 minutes total).
Remove excess oil from the pan.
In the same pan, add the sauce ingredients. Let it simmer for 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened.
Add the meatballs back into the sauce and coat them well. Let them simmer gently for 3–4 more minutes, spooning sauce over them.
Serve warm with steamed rice or as an izakaya-style dish.
