Hotel-Style Rice Cooking Secrets

Rinse rice under cold water until clear to remove excess starch.

Heat butter or oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Sauté onion until translucent. Add garlic and cook 1 minute.

Add rinsed rice and toast, stirring for 2 minutes until grains are slightly translucent and fragrant.

Pour in broth, add bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Stir and bring to a boil.

Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer 15–18 minutes until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender.

Remove from heat, keep covered, and let rest 10 minutes.

Discard bay leaf, fluff rice with a fork, garnish with parsley, and serve hot.
