In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent and soft.
Add the shrimp and cook until just pink and opaque, about 3 minutes. Remove shrimp and set aside.
Add the crab meat to the pot and warm gently for 2 minutes.
Blend the mixture with some broth or cream (add as desired) until smooth and creamy.
Return the shrimp to the pot, stir to combine, and heat through gently.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
