Wash and Prepare the Strawberries:
Gently rinse the strawberries under cool water to remove any dirt. Pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. It's essential that they are completely dry before storing to prevent mold growth.
Remove the Stems:
Use a small knife or strawberry huller to remove the green stems and leaves. This will ensure that no excess moisture or bacteria are trapped within the fruit.
Pack the Strawberries:
Layer the strawberries in a clean, dry container. If you're using a vacuum-seal bag, lay the strawberries flat before sealing them. For containers, place a paper towel at the bottom to absorb any moisture and layer the strawberries carefully. Avoid overpacking them to prevent bruising.
Vacuum Seal (Optional):
If you want to store the strawberries for a whole year, vacuum sealing is one of the best options. If using a vacuum-seal bag, follow the instructions on the vacuum sealer to remove air and seal the bag tightly. This method helps to retain the strawberries' flavor and texture longer.
Store in the Freezer:
Once your strawberries are packed and sealed, place them in the freezer. Keep them in a freezer that maintains a consistent temperature to prevent freezer burn.
