Prepare the Lemongrass:
If using fresh lemongrass, rinse the stalks and cut off the root ends. Lightly bruise the stalks with the back of a knife to release their oils, then cut them into smaller pieces (3-4 inches long).
If using dried lemongrass or tea bags, skip the preparation and move directly to the next step.
Boil the Water:
Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
Add the Lemongrass:
Once the water boils, add the fresh or dried lemongrass. If using tea bags, place them directly in the boiling water. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 5–10 minutes, depending on how strong you want the flavor.
Strain and Serve:
After steeping, strain out the lemongrass pieces (or remove the tea bag). Pour the tea into your cup.
Optional Additions:
Add honey, a sweetener of your choice, or a slice of lemon for extra flavor. A sprig of mint can also enhance the freshness.
