Peel 2–3 garlic cloves and place them in a heat-safe dish.
Light the tips of the garlic cloves with a match or lighter until they begin to smolder (not burn like a fire, just smoke).
Allow the garlic to burn slowly in a well-ventilated room.
After 15 minutes, extinguish any remaining embers and open the windows if needed.
