Natural Defense: Proven Home Remedies to Get Rid of Cockroaches

Introduction
Cockroaches are more than just pests—they can contaminate food, spread bacteria, and trigger allergies. Fortunately, you don’t need to rely on chemical sprays to eliminate them. With simple ingredients already in your home, you can create natural and effective solutions to drive cockroaches away and prevent infestations.

Ingredients:

Baking soda

Sugar

Bay leaves

Boric acid (optional)

White vinegar

Essential oils (peppermint or eucalyptus)

Cucumber peels

Lemon juice

Water

Spray bottle

How to make:

Baking Soda and Sugar Bait:
Mix equal parts baking soda and sugar. Place small amounts in shallow dishes in corners, behind appliances, or under the sink. The sugar attracts the roaches; the baking soda kills them.

Bay Leaf Repellent:
Crush dried bay leaves and scatter them in areas where cockroaches hide. The smell repels them naturally.

White Vinegar Spray:
Mix equal parts vinegar and water. Add a few drops of essential oil for extra power. Spray around cracks, baseboards, and counters.

Lemon Juice Cleaner:
Mix lemon juice with warm water and use it to mop floors. Roaches dislike the acidic citrus scent.

Cucumber Trap:
Place cucumber peels in aluminum containers near infested spots. The smell creates a chemical reaction that repels roaches.

Boric Acid Paste (optional and with caution):
Mix boric acid, flour, and sugar into a paste. Place in inaccessible areas. Avoid use if you have pets or small children.
