In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the mayonnaise, vanilla, salt, and egg. Beat until smooth and fully combined.
Sift in the flour, cornstarch, and baking powder. Mix gently until a soft dough forms.
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Scoop or pipe small portions of dough onto the tray, leaving space between each cookie.
Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are just golden. Do not overbake.
Let cool on the tray for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
