In a small bowl, combine the lukewarm water, dry yeast, and sugar. Stir and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the yeast activates and becomes frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, sift the flour and baking powder together.
Add the yeast mixture and vegetable oil into the flour mixture. Stir until it forms a dough. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Roll out the dough thinly using a rolling pin, and then cut into desired shapes—either squares, circles, or any shape you prefer.
Place the crackers or cookies on the baking tray, sprinkle with a pinch of salt on top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
Let them cool completely on a wire rack.
