Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a muffin tray with paper liners.
In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
Add the sugar, egg, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the bananas, and stir until everything is well combined.
In another bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined.
Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
Spoon the batter evenly into the muffin tin, filling each cup about 3/4 full.
Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the muffins to cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
