In a large bowl, mix the flour, garlic, rosemary, salt, and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top, then add the warm water. Stir with a wooden spoon until all the ingredients come together into a sticky dough.

Let the Dough Rise:
Cover the bowl with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

Shape the Bread:
After the dough has risen, gently punch it down to release any air bubbles. On a floured surface, shape the dough into a round or oval loaf. Place it on a piece of parchment paper or a lightly floured surface.

Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). If you have a Dutch oven, place it inside the oven while it preheats to ensure it’s hot when you bake the bread.

Bake the Bread:
If using a Dutch oven, carefully transfer the dough (with the parchment paper) into the preheated Dutch oven. If not using a Dutch oven, place the dough on a baking sheet. Cover the Dutch oven or bread with a lid or foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then, remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes to brown the top.

Optional Olive Oil Brush:
Once the bread is done, brush the top with olive oil for a glossy finish. Let the bread cool slightly before slicing.

Serve:
Slice and enjoy your rustic rosemary garlic bread!
