Preheat the oven: Set the oven to 180°C (350°F) and lightly grease a muffin pan with butter or oil spray.
Mix the ingredients: In a bowl, combine the self-raising flour, grated cheddar cheese, egg, milk, melted butter, salt, pepper, and paprika (if using). Stir until the ingredients are just combined.
Fill the muffin pan: Spoon the mixture evenly into the muffin pan holes, filling each one about three-quarters full.
Add the crumbly topping: Sprinkle the crushed biscuits over the top of each puff, pressing them slightly to help them stick.
Bake: Place the muffin pan in the oven and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the puffs are golden brown and puffed up.
