Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or your fingertips until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add the milk, stirring gently with a fork until a soft dough forms.
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead briefly, just until it holds together.
Pat the dough into a ¾-inch thick round and cut into 8 wedges or use a round cutter for traditional scone shapes.
Place scones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with a little milk.
Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
