In a saucepan, combine the milk and sugar.
Heat over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Continue simmering gently for 30–35 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture reduces by about half and thickens.
Do not boil. Keep the heat low to avoid curdling.
Once thickened to a syrup-like consistency, remove from heat.
Let it cool slightly. It will thicken more as it cools.
Pour into a clean glass jar and store in the refrigerator.
