How to Cook a Turkey in a Roasting Bag

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the turkey: Remove any giblets or neck from the turkey cavity. Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.

Season the turkey: Rub the softened butter all over the turkey, including the breast, legs, and inside the cavity. Season generously with salt and pepper.

Place the turkey in the bag: Open the roasting bag and place it in a large roasting pan. Carefully place the prepared turkey inside the bag. Close the bag tightly, making sure there’s no air trapped inside.

Make small slits: Use a knife to cut a few small slits in the top of the roasting bag to allow steam to escape.

Roast the turkey: Place the roasting pan with the bagged turkey in the oven. Roast for approximately 13 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature of the turkey reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.

Rest the turkey: Once cooked, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for 20 minutes before slicing.
