In a large bowl, combine the bread flour, salt, sugar, instant yeast, egg, warm water, and cooking oil. Knead the mixture until it forms a smooth and elastic dough.

Rest the Dough:
Brush the dough with a thin layer of oil to prevent drying. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let the dough rest in a warm place for 30-40 minutes, or until it doubles in size.

Shape the Dough:
Once the dough has risen, roll and stretch it into a long strip on a lightly floured surface. Cut the strip into equal pieces, each about two finger-widths wide.

Stack and Press:
Stack two pieces of dough on top of each other. Use a chopstick or the back of a knife to press firmly down the center of the stacked pieces. This helps them hold their shape while frying.

Fry the Donut Sticks:
Heat oil in a deep pan to 176°C (350°F). Gently stretch each piece of dough slightly before placing it into the hot oil. Fry the dough sticks, flipping them constantly, until they are golden brown and puffed up.

Serve:
Remove the fried donut sticks from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil. Serve warm, plain, or with a side of dipping sauce, such as sweetened condensed milk or chocolate sauce.
