Chinese-Style Beef with Caramelized Onions

Mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Add beef and coat well. Let sit for 15–20 minutes.

Caramelize the onions:
Heat 1 tbsp oil over medium-low heat. Add onions and sugar. Sauté slowly for 10–15 minutes until golden and soft. Remove and set aside.

Stir-fry the beef:
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a wok over high heat. Sear the beef in a single layer for 2–3 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Combine and finish:
Return onions to the pan. Add soy sauces and water or stock. Stir in the beef. Cook 1–2 minutes more until heated through.

Serve:
Arrange beef with onions on top. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
