In a large bowl, combine the beef, breadcrumbs, diced onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined. Shape into 4 oval patties.
Cook the Patties:
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Sear the patties for 4–5 minutes per side, until browned. Remove and set aside.
Make the Gravy:
In the same skillet, add olive oil and sliced onions. Cook for 5–7 minutes until soft and golden. Sprinkle with flour, stir for 1 minute, then whisk in beef broth, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes.
Simmer Together:
Return the patties to the skillet. Cover and simmer in the gravy for another 10 minutes, or until fully cooked.
Serve hot with mashed potatoes or buttered noodles.
