Vintage British Pasta Dinner with Rich Meat Sauce (1960s Inspired)

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Make the Meat Sauce:
Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion until soft and translucent (about 5 minutes). Add grated garlic and cook for another minute.

Add the ground meat to the pan and cook until browned. Break it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute. Then add chopped tomatoes, oregano, salt, pepper, and optional sugar.

Reduce heat to low and simmer the sauce gently for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavorful.

Assemble:
Toss the drained pasta with the meat sauce or serve the sauce on top. Garnish with fresh herbs or grated cheese if desired.
